11.21.2016 • my ninth week in NYC

Monday, November 21, 2016

Good morning, or if it isn't morning when you read this - Hi! For me it's morning when I write this but I think most of the people who read my blog are from the Netherlands. That means that it isn't morning for them. It's weird to have a time difference. When I have contact with people from my home it's like I have contact with the future. Okay the longer I think about this the crazier it sounds. One paragraph full of nonsense, check.

This morning I woke up and the world around me was white. I think a white world is the prettiest. Many people call me crazy but a white world is so magical. My roommate from Venezuela never saw snow before. It's so cute how she reacts to it.

But now let's talk about my ninth week in NYC.

Week nine was a really fun week. It was progress week, that means stress, yeah. I have to be honest and say that I never thought that I would get through the test but I did. Even though I failed the reading part because I didn't have enough time. The most important of it all, I passed the test and next week I go to the C1.2 level.

Friday after classes we took the train to Manhattan. Plan of the day : Top of the Rock.

The view was amazing, wow.

When you arrive at the top you have the most amazing view ever. It's so magical. I walked out of the elevator and the view I saw was breathtaking. It was a moment when I realized where I was and how lucky I am to have this opportunity. I am in NEW YORK for two months and I am going the be here for four more months. After I saw everything I decided to share my view with people from back home. Thank you world for giving us Wi-Fi. I facetimed some people and sent pictures to some other people. It was so amazing to have the opportunity to share this experience with some people this way.

I spent more than three hours on Top of the Rock with Elianne, Elien and Bas. We saw the sunset, it was breathtaking. The three hours went by so fast. I could spend hours and hours there and just watch the amazing view. It's so magical.
We walked to Bryant Park. We went there because we wanted to see the ice skating rink and the Christmas market. Afterwards we took the subway and went to by Chloe to get some dinner. It was my first time there and I loved it so much. I heard so many good stories about this place and they are really true. By Chloe is a vegan place and they serve the best sweet potato fries and vegetarian burger ever.

Saturday we went to Palisades Center. We went to the movies. It was a great adventure. The chairs in the cinema are crazy, you could change the settings of the chair. I watched the movie lying in a chair, that felt so weird. We went to the movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. If you love the Harry Potter movies you would definitely like this movie.

Afterwards we ate at the Cheesecake Factory. It was about time. We promised Bas I think more than a month ago. Sunday we started the sporty day in the gym. In the evening we planned to watch the AMAs. We ended up watching a movie because the connection to watch the AMAs was very bad. Now it's Monday again and it's really cold outside, party. No kidding, but I would love to stay in bed with this weather. It feels like minus eight. A new week, new adventures. This week we have planned a couple of fun things so I can't wait to experience them. I hope you will have a nice week.

Love, Renee
